jeffFor most of my life, my only desire was to become a professional athlete and achieve fame and fortune. With God far from my thoughts, I continued down the road of fulfilling my own desires. Upon enrollment into the University of Central Florida, I tried out for the football team as a walk-on and made the team. After one year of practicing with the team as a red-shirt freshmen, I suffered a career-ending injury which left me wondering what to do next.

I applied for a job at the Marriott Food Service Management Company. The first day that I worked at Marriott, I met a young man, who was a Christian. His life and testimony impacted my life. There was something different about him. As our friendship grew, he invited me to church. I gladly accepted the invitation and attended Beacon Baptist Church in Jupiter, FL. The church was different from any other that I had been to because the Pastor preached the Word of God.

deannaI thank the Lord for the Godly family that He has given to me.  The oldest of the Velasquez siblings, I was born in Chattanooga, TN.  When I was 3 years old, my parents and I moved to Spain where they started their ministry that would last for 14 years.  I count it a privilege to have grown up on the mission?field and in a Christian home. 

At the age of 5, I put my faith and trust in the Lord Jesus Christ to be the Savior of my life.  All through my childhood years, the Lord worked in my heart in a variety of ways. When I was a teenager, I committed to serve the Lord with my life.  My heart's desire was to serve the Lord in missions.
