For most of my life, my only desire was to become a professional athlete and achieve fame and fortune. With God far from my thoughts, I continued down the road of fulfilling my own desires. Upon enrollment into the University of Central Florida, I tried out for the football team as a walk-on and made the team. After one year of practicing with the team as a red-shirt freshmen, I suffered a career-ending injury which left me wondering what to do next.
I applied for a job at the Marriott Food Service Management Company. The first day that I worked at Marriott, I met a young man, who was a Christian. His life and testimony impacted my life. There was something different about him. As our friendship grew, he invited me to church. I gladly accepted the invitation and attended Beacon Baptist Church in Jupiter, FL. The church was different from any other that I had been to because the Pastor preached the Word of God.

I thank the Lord for the Godly family that He has given to me. The oldest of the Velasquez siblings, I was born in Chattanooga, TN. When I was 3 years old, my parents and I moved to Spain where they started their ministry that would last for 14 years. I count it a privilege to have grown up on the mission?field and in a Christian home.Â
At the age of 5, I put my faith and trust in the Lord Jesus Christ to be the Savior of my life. All through my childhood years, the Lord worked in my heart in a variety of ways. When I was a teenager, I committed to serve the Lord with my life. My heart's desire was to serve the Lord in missions.Â
