David Velasquez Prayer Letter - January 2010Posted by Jeffrey Andrews in Untagged |
Dear Pastor, Congregation and Friends,
“For unto us a child is born...and His name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, the mighty God, the everlasting Father, the Prince of Peace.” (Isa. 9:6) What a wonderful gift was given to us two thousand years ago in the form of a child.
We had a memorable Christmas this year. The Lord blessed us with a beautiful baby girl, Hayden Mikaela Velasquez. She was born November 5th weighing 8lbs. 5oz. Hayden is our little Christmas gift. She already has daddy wrapped around her little finger. After a short break from deputation to help my wife recover from her surgery we are ready to hit the ground running in 2010 and finish raising our support. We are currently at 60% of our needed support and hope to be in Spain in one more year.
We would ask you to pray for the health of our daughter. Right after she was born she was given a standard heart test and they discovered that she had a heart murmur. After consulting a specialist she was diagnosed with Ventricular Septal Defect. In simple terms it means that she has a hole in her heart that has the potential to affect her overall well being. Although it is a relatively common heart defect we were of course concerned. The doctor said that in most cases the hole closes on its own but in the worst case scenario would require surgery to correct the problem. In her last visit to the doctor we were blessed to find out that her heart is progressing positively. We don’t have to visit the doctor again for another nine months. Praise the Lord! Please continue to pray so that she will completely heal.
Also, we would like you to pray for my grandfather, Wayne Witherell. He has been a faithful missionary for many years in five different countries. He was used of God to lead my father to Christ. Through his testimony I gained a love for missions. I am so grateful for his prayers and encouragement through the years. Recently he has been diagnosed with macular degeneration in one of his eyes which could lead to blindness. We pray that God would heal his eyes so that he can continue working on the field. My grandparents went to the mission field with $70.00 of monthly support. They have lived by faith and God has provided for all of their needs. Several years ago they used their retirement money to purchase the property for a Bible Camp in Venezuela. They may not have many earthly possessions but their eternal reward is secure in the bank of Heaven. Only God knows the impact that they have had on the lives of so many people. I love you grandpa! Thank you for your faithful support and prayers in 2009. Happy New Year!
