I

t is so wonderful to see how the Lord has worked in my life. I was five years old when I was saved and I surrendered my life to be a missionary when I was eleven. All of these things came to my memory just last week as I attended a mission’s conference in North Carolina. The speaker was veteran missionary Bro. J.T. Lyons. He is well in his eighties and has suffered a great deal with his health. In spite of it all he preached five blazing messages that stirred my heart once again for the need of missions around the world. You see Brother Lyons was a missionary in Liberia, Africa as well as in Spain. I had known him growing up in Spain and the last time that I had seen him was when I was eleven and it was precisely under his preaching that I answered the call of God in my life for missions. The last night I went forward and recommitted my life to Christ’s service. I pray that the Lord will continue to perform His work in me until I see His face.

Deputation News

Since our last letter we have had six new churches partner with us and that means that we are now at 52% of our needed support. Praise the Lord! We are are confident that we will be in Spain soon.

Also, a couple weeks ago we were able to find out that we are going to be having a little girl! My parents are really happy because this will be their first granddaughter.

We have very exciting ministry news to share with you. Although we are not on the field yet we have been very busy alongside the other families in our team planning ways to reach the community of Parla, Madrid with the gospel. In the city of Parla, where we will be working, the population is roughly 150,000 and we figure that there must be approximately 50,000 households. Our goal is to reach every one of these households with a gospel DVD. We have produced a professional DVD which clearly explains the gospel message. It is very hard to get into the homes of the Spanish people but we are praying that God will use this DVD to not only reach souls for Christ but also allow us to gain contacts to begin our church. We are praying that many of you would be involved in this great ministry opportunity. It is easy to give. Kids, Sunday School Classes, Adults, Churches, etc. can participate in this project.  We have figured that the cost to make each DVD is around 50 cents. So for 50 cents, the Gospel on DVD will be given to someone who may have never heard the Gospel before.  For $5.00, the Gospel on DVD can be given to 10 people. For $100, the Gospel on DVD can be given to 200 people and so on. We are not asking for money for ourselves we simply want to give you the opportunity to have a part in someone hearing the gospel. Every dime that you give will go directly to getting a Gospel DVD into the hands of someone who doesn’t know Christ as their Savior. In the future we would like to follow up with even more DVD’s as well as gospel literature. What a great way to make our way into the homes of the people in Parla and allow them to hear the good news of the gospel for the first time in their lives.We couldn’t be more excited about this project. This past week I was able to be apart of Pre-Teen Camp here in Spain.  I was able to serve the Lord as a worker, doing different projects around the camp grounds.  God has really blessed the camp.  Mario Waters started the camp almost 32 years ago with just a few people.  They had no electricity, no running water and would sleep in tents.  Now, they run 5 weeks of camp, with electricity, running water, etc.  The missionaries have pretty much labored with their own hands to build the camp to what it is today.  Every year, God does a great work in the lives of young people and adults as well.  This past week, several young people made professions of faith and several felt the call of the Lord on their lives to serve Him full-time.  We praise the Lord for His work in the lives of the people in Spain.  Pray for Deanna and I as we will be counselors next week at the teen camp.

I would like to ask you to pray for my wife, Deanna.  For several months she has been battling with many symptoms such as dizziness, nausea, neck pain, tingling in her arms and legs that seem to cause heaviness and slight numbness.  She has trouble sleeping at nights and many times during the day is fatigued.  She has visited many doctors and so far no one can figure out what is going on.  It is wearing on her physically, but also emotionally.  However, we know the Lord is still on His throne and that all things are done for His honor and glory.  Our desire has always been to be empty vessels used for His glory.  Thank you for your prayers in this matter.    

Dear Praying Friends, Family, and Churches,

It is a privilege to be writing this letter.  First of all, we are so thrilled to be able to serve our awesome God.  Second of all, we are humbled to know that we have so many friends and fellow Christians who are praying for us and supporting us.  We thank God and you all for this great privilege.

The Gospel DVD Project
We are so excited to present this new project to you.  We have planned, prayed and worked on this project and we are very close to getting it under way.  I want to use the majority of this letter to let you know what the project is all about.

We have two main goals that we want to accomplish for our ministry here.

• The first goal is to get the gospel on DVD to every person in our city.
• The second goal is to use a variety of means to build a contact base in order to start a church.

In order to begin accomplishing these two main goals, we have come up with our first major project…The Gospel DVD Project.

The gist of the project is to get the Gospel on DVD to the city of Parla.  Parla is the city where we live which is a suburb of Madrid.  There are approximately 150,000 people and counting in Parla.  A rough estimate would give us around 50,000 households in our city.  So our goal is to get 50,000 Gospel DVD presentations into each home in our city. The DVD is an eight-minute presentation of the Gospel with contact information at the end. Through this, we are praying that God will give us contacts to start a church.  So please help us pray that God will work in the hearts of the people who are able to see this Gospel DVD presentation.

We also want to give you the opportunity to give directly to missions.  Every dime that you give will go directly to getting a Gospel DVD into the hands of someone who doesn’t know Christ as their Savior.  God has really brought us to a strategic location.  In our city, there is a heavy population of Arabic People, Chinese People, South American’s, and of course, Spaniards.  So in essence, you could be giving the Gospel on DVD that would reach a Muslim, a Buddhist, a Catholic, etc.

It is easy to give.  Kids, Sunday School Classes, Adults, Churches, etc. can participate in this project.  We have figured that the cost to make each DVD is around 50 cents.  So for 50 cents, the Gospel on DVD will be given to someone who may have never heard the Gospel before.  For $5.00, the Gospel on DVD can be given to 10 people.  For $100, the Gospel on DVD can be given to 200 people and so on.  You aren’t giving your money to our team or me or to any missionary.  Your money, as well, as our money that we give, will go directly to getting the Gospel on DVD to someone.  To be honest, this is not a letter that is asking churches for money and if the churches don’t give, we can’t complete our task.  We know that eventually we will get the gospel on DVD to every home in our city.  This is a letter giving Christians the opportunity to be directly involved in distributing the Gospel in a foreign land.  We have already made a huge monetary sacrifice of our own to get this project started.  Through the money that our team has given and some gifts from others, we already have enough material to distribute 5,000 DVD Gospel presentations to our city.  Can you imagine being involved in a project where the entire population of a city is able to hear and watch the Word of God being presented?  Can you tell that I am excited about this project?  We believe God is going to do great things through His Word being presented.

Summer means two things here...Vacation and HOT!!!  It is easy to tell that summer is here because so many people are in vacation mode.  Here in Europe, people usually take a month long vacation.  Things begin to slow down and businesses aren't open as frequently or as late.  Some only stay open until 2pm and then quit the rest of the day.  It is also very hot here.  Many days you just feel like staying home.

A goal without a plan is only a wish.

Even though it is summer and vacation time for Spain, we are trying to stay busy planning the start of our new work.  We had another ministry meeting today.  Our main focus was to concentrate on two main things.

1.  When the person watches the DVD gospel presentation (click here to learn more about this) that we will be giving out, when they go to the website that is given at the end, what do we want them to see?  What kind of information do we put there to keep them interested, etc.

2.  What do we do next?  After we distribute the DVD gospel presentation, what is our next course of action?

So those are the two main things that we were able to discuss and nail down.

After talking and planing for a couple of hours, we took some students that we have visiting to downtown Madrid.  We went to Plaza del Sol and Plaza Mayor.  We all enjoyed being there and seeing some of the sights in Madrid.

I apologize for not writing in a few weeks.  I have been away. 

I wanted to blog about the current situation in Honduras.  I am not going to write my own opinion, I am simply going paste in a letter from a missionary in Honduras about the situation.  Be praying for this situation.  

 

One of our missionaries reports of the new developments in Honduras; “Please read the article below written by Kent Burns, a businessman in Nicaragua. We agree with verything that he has said and we are very concerned over the situation. Honduras has been a true and loyal friend to the United States; they opened up their country to the United States during the Contra and Sandinista war back in the 80's. They are now being shut off from the world because they are standing up against communism. The border save been closed so there can be no trade and CNN has reported that the button has been pushed by the American Government to cut off all aid. Honduras is not an independent country - it cannot exist for very long with borders being closed and no aid from the United States. President Obama, along with other third world countries with leftist leaders, want to bring Honduras to their knees through hunger and suffering. Believe you me, they will go hungry. This sounds unreal to me. Why would our Government cut them off, and why would our Government say that they will recognize no Government except the ex-President, who has sided with Chavez, Ortega, Castro and all the other Leftists of Central and South American? Please write your congressmen and let them know the truth. Tell your friends to write their Congressman. At least let our voices be heard. I am very, very burdened over this situation. I know that God is in control but I don’t think it would hurt to let people know that this was not a military coup. It was legal action taken by a Government who did not want their country to go communist. I have to be careful about mentioning my name or involving our ministry for reasons that all of you understand but my heart aches inside me and I want to do something to help the people of Honduras…

‘There has NOT been a coup in Honduras, The country is NOT in crisis. This all started over a year ago when our president Mel Zelaya with the help of Hugo Chavez and Daniel Ortega began shredding the Honduran Constitution and setting the stage for him to become dictator of Honduras. As we neared the November elections that would seat a new president Mel Zelaya became more ruthless. Zelaya was informed more than once that his actions were outside the bounds of the Honduran Constitution. Zelaya earlier this year denounced democracy and announced he would seed an Venezuelan style of government, he then began receiving large sums of cash from Hugo Chavez…

This last week tensions mounted as the National Congress after a ruling from the Honduran SUPREME COURT that Mel Zelaya has committed
crimes against the Constitution. As Chavez and Ortega offered Military assistance the National Congress of Honduras, The people of Honduras and the Courts of Honduras did not flinch, They stood beside their Constitution and detained by order of the National Congress Mel Zelaya for crimes against the Constitution…

President Zelaya and a small portion of the population tried to highjack the country and destroy democracy in favor of a Chavez-style government. Zelaya was shredding the constitution he swore to protect in order to stay in power past constitutional limits and firmly align Honduras with Venezuela… President Zelaya was clearly, and more than once, informed officially that his actions were outside of the constitution and law. Given his obedience to Hugo Chavez and Chavez's money, Zelaya was a traitor to this country in the truest sense of the word. I am writing to you as an American investor living in Honduras to express my admiration and respect for this country and how its government handled this crisis. They were faced with a difficult situation that was only growing worse. This was NOT a coup, but a criminal arrest… Hondurans should be applauded for how they handled this! They used their Constitution and stood firmly in the face of Chavez, Orgega, Morales, and Castro and said no to this form of Government.

You would think the US would be applauding the situation. The US will if not
careful give Chavez and Ortega the fuel they need to invade Honduras and remove our democratic form of Government. We cannot believe the news reports and the statements by our representatives. We need your help. All Americans and Hondurans are franticly emailing and sending information to the US. We need you to forward this email to your local news station, CNN, contacts that you may have at any level of government. Email your senator, congressman. Please pass this along. If the US ushers Zelaya back into power they are condemning this country to a communist regime…
