Dear Praying Friends, Family, and Churches,
1 Timothy 1:12 “And I thank Christ Jesus our Lord, who hath enabled me, for that he counted me faithful, putting me into the ministry;” What a privilege it is to be able to serve our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ! We count it a privilege to live in Spain and to teach people about God’s awesome gift of Salvation through His only Son Jesus Christ.
The Ministry
In December, we finished our 7 week campaign on some of life’s most important questions. For seven weeks we labored to put a total of 14,000 flyers in people’s homes all over the city. We praise the Lord for the visitors He sent our way who were able to hear the Word of God.
A couple of weeks ago, a young Brazilian lady named Agda, came to the ladies meeting that is held every Friday afternoon. She admitted to having many fears and uncertainties. After talking with the ladies and seeing what the Word of God had to say, she bowed her head and asked the Lord to save her. We praise the Lord for this. On Sunday she came to church and also attended the ladies meeting the following Friday. Please pray for her as the ladies begin to discipline her in the Word of God. Pray for her husband Ruben as well, who claims to be an atheist.
The Mariners
This past Saturday, we were able to host a breakfast for the Gijon Mariners. The Mariners play American Football here in Spain. Joseph Contreras, the missionary who we are working with, plays football on the team. He uses this opportunity to build relationships with the men on the team and to share his faith with them, as well as being a spiritual encouragement to each of them. He invited them to come and enjoy a real “American Breakfast.” We had scrambled eggs, pancakes, bacon, and fruit, with homemade maple syrup. Spaniards are not use to eating maple syrup but it was a huge hit. During the breakfast, we showed a DVD of the 2006 Super Bowl Breakfast put on by Athletes in Action. The guest speaker that year was Tony Dungy, head coach of the Indianapolis Colts. Coach Dungy gave a strong testimony of how God has worked in His life. He concluded the testimony/message with an invitation for anyone who would like to ask God to forgive their sins and accept Jesus Christ as their personal Savior. The men on this football team here in Spain, all keep a close eye on the players and coaches in the NFL. They admire many of the men in the NFL, especially a man like Coach Dungy who has had great success. These men were certainly impacted by his testimony and what a great opportunity it was to share the Gospel with them through something they love. A few of the men spoke with Bro. Contreras after the meal about some thoughts and questions they had as a result of watching the video. We praise the Lord for this opportunity.
Please pray for the Contreras Family. They will be leaving in a few weeks to take a furlough and to raise more support. The weakening dollar has had a grave effect on missionaries in Europe and many are returning home to raise more funds.
Visas
Please continue to pray for our visas. We are continually running into minor problems that are hindering us from getting our residence cards. We received a phone call today that informed us of our next appointment. Lord willing, this will progress the situation. We thank the Lord that we are still able to be here legally so we can continue spreading the Gospel.
I want to say a special THANKS to all of the churches, individuals, and businesses who gave us a special Christmas love offering. It was a tremendous blessing to our family.
